I ordered 20 and gave away 20 over a long period of time. I gave them too WWII Marines, Korea Marines, Vietnam Marines, and three young men and women who showed me a great deal of personal commitment to their community and life goals. Each coin presented brought an emotional response from them I did not expect. The three young people all wanted to give it back, "I don't deserve this" No I said earn to live up to it no matter what you do in life. This was all done based on a personal meeting. I think it was the first time someone either gave them acknowledgement for their USMC experience or presented them with something in acknowledgement of how important they were in other's lives. It tought me the Marine Corps has a more far reaching effect within our society then I ever realized. If the few young people I gave a coin too don't join, most will not, I'll bet they carry the coin as a reflection of who they can be other then who they are right now. All were already helping others through Church, sports .etc This story has nothing to do with me other than recounting their enormous respect " for the coin" . The respect I saw in these 20 peoples eyes when offered. I had no stories I wanted to tell them, no name, etc. Brian M. Carroll ( Corporal, Vietnam 1968) God Bless All Here
