Additional Info: The Vietnam/Era Vets - Welcome Home event will be held the weekend of August 27-30, 2015 at the Forest City Airport, Heritage Park. Just as the war affected each person in a different way, our goal is to provide a variety of events which will allow each veteran to feel comfortable in whatever way they choose to participate. Our goal is to make all Vietnam/Era Vets, their spouses, children, and grandchildren feel welcome in joining together with their brothers and sisters of the war. Huey Helicopter Rides, Vietnam Traveling Wall, Sky Soldiers, and Much More! Camping will be $15.00 a night and payable day of event. Free Admission - If you register, you will not be drafted again! Pre-Registered Vietnam/Era Veterans will receive a "meal card" worth $10 at any of the food vendors (mess halls), and a commemorative "Welcome Home" challenge coin, both can be picked up during the event. During this event we will take some time to Honor the Veterans during this 25th Anniversary of Desert Storm. A Tentative Schedule is as follows. Day 1: Wednesday, 16 November 2016 - Field Day with the battalion. This has yet to be determined do to logistical reasons with the unit. During the evening we will have a Welcome Reception at a location to be determined. This will include a cash bar and appetizers. Day 2: Thursday, 17 November 2016 - Feed the Wolves II. Battalion Veteran and stellar competition BBQ chef Stacey Clark will be cooking up some outstanding BBQ while chapter members serve lunch and spend quality time for some 650+ Active Duty Warriors of the 2D LAR Battalion. Donations of Chow Chits are being accepted to offset the costs of feeding our Active Duty brothers. Chow Chits are $10.00 each and will feed 2 Marines or FMF Corpsman. Chow Chits can be purchased on the registration page. After lunch, we will have a chapter meeting and spend some quality time within the Battalion Heritage Room. Day 3: Friday, 18 November 2016 - 241st Marine Corps Birthday Celebration. Relocate to Wilmington and celebrate the Marine Corps Birthday with battalion.
