4.2 Mortars
Here's a picture of a 4.2 mortar crew from 1953,Korea,with the 5th marines. At the time it was a very good weapon.I was in 4.2 mortars for three years. My question is are they still in use in the marine corps any more?My guess is they are not because it would be easy to trace where you were firing from.

I was with W-2/11 from 1965 -1967, we had the 4.2mm and later the 107mm. I have worked with the 105 and 155 but I’ll take the 4.2mm any day.

I was with W/1/5, from April 1953 to Sept. 1954
I was the FO with C/1/5 for 11 month while on the front line
just north of the Imjim River. Called the Kansas Line.
Would like to here from any one that was there during my time.

response to ray french comment my father was in W-3-1 “81 Able” from cease fire till the 1st marine division came home. he has told me about “spoonbill” “boulder city” “vegas, carson, and reno” libby bridge.. it is very difficult to find info on these bloody hill battles at the end of the kwar. these are some of the forgeten battles that the usmc stopped the chineese last ditch effort to break through they through everything they had at the marines also after the cease fire the area above the Imjim was still dangerous line crossers booby traps infiltraters and on the marine corps birthday 1954 chineese tanks penetrated the dmz and were discouraged by the marines! thank you for your service i am in the process of digitizing my dads photos of this area so i can submit them to sites like this to help tell the story of the men who were there when you and my dad were there semper fi mac!
