- AnHoa Fire Base
- I served with G Company, 2Bn. 5th. Marines out of An Hoa from Jan. to Sept. 1970. Actually, we spent most of the time in the brush. But I do recall a few happy hours at the E.M. Club---just not many. I'm wondering if there are any other Marines out there that I might have served with during this time? I have lost all my pictures of the A.O. we served in. Sure would like to see some if anyone has any. Keep marching on. Semper Fi Robert H. Bliss, Sgt. 1968--1976
- Old Corps ?
- I guess I'm now designated as Old Corps!!! I always thought of the Old Breed 1st. Mar Div from WW-2. Being now 56, I really hate to admit it, but I'm now offically an Old Fart ! That's what I would have thought (back in the day), and I'm sure things haven't changed. All this hype from my fellow Marines & Docs about Ohh-Rah to me is a load of crap. We, when we were young always seemed to agrivate the older guys (WW-2 Vets) with some new way of …

- I did not know any of the Marines of F-2-5 personally in Korea during 1951 but served with them. As a section leader of heavy machine guns with W-2-5 from Jan. 51 through Jan. 52 my guns were assigned to Dog, Easy or Fox company during our many combat actions against communist forces. We were all young, filled with patriotism and comradeship with a common goal. Semper Fi! Sgt. Van Aposhian

- I really enjoyed seeing the post by Capt. Bailey. In the photo of Comm. Plt. I am the second from the right in the front row. I was then a young Sgt. in communications maintenance. Those first few weeks in Chu Lai were busy. We had one company that had been in country year and needed a lot of maintenance. Working inside an ontos was a chore to say the least. - Guadalcanal Marine
- I would like to share something that happened today that was a first for me except when I was in the USMC. While in the Corps, 65 to 69, I met a few Guadalcanal vets but none since. Today while taking my wife for a radiation treatment I noticed an elderly gentleman leaving the hospital in a wheelchair boarding a nursing care center bus with the help of a young lady, probably a granddaughter, great-granddaughter or a nursing care employee. He was wearing a hat and all I could read …
Read More - Liberty Cards
- I read the stories about the returned liberty card and about the Marine who asked who keeps their liberty cards. I wanted to tell you about my Liberty card from H&S Company 3rd Blt 5th Marines. I still have it in my possession. The policy in the company in 1964 was any Cpl or above kept their liberty card in their possession all the time. It was a priviledge reserved for NCOs as sign of Respect and Honor in the sure belief that no NCO in the company would abuse …
Read More - Sea Bee treatment of Marines in Vietnam .
- I have to disagree that the Air Force treated Marine bad in the Nam. Case in point , after 6 weeks in the A Shau Valley , and having no more than a GI Bath for that time , myself and others from ou platoon tried to enter the mess hall at the Sea Bee compund on Monkey Mountain and were told that we were to smelly and dirty to eat there. We proceeded to travel don the mountain to the Da Nang Air Base , as we were told that they had great food at …
