I GOT THE STORY ABOUT MY “BUDDY” AND I GOING THROUGH BOOT CAMP “TOGETHER” AND WAS MOTIVATED TO GET IN AIR WING TRAINIG AFTER BOOT CAMP… I SAW MY BUDDY AT CALIFORNIA MCRD (ABOUT 3AM) WHEN WE GOT ON THE BUS, I GOT ON THE FIRST BUS, HE GOT ON THE THIRD BUS——I NEVER SAW HIM AGAIN FOR TWO YEARS IN TRANSIT BARRACKS, I WAS GOING TO JAPAN AND HE WAS GOING TO OKINAWA.. MY FIRST THOUGHTS WERE (MAYBE THEY DONT KNOW WE ARE GOING TO TRAIN TOGETHER) BUT I SURE FORGOT ALL ABOUT “ASKING” AFTER THE FIRST DI GOT IN MY FACE ABOUT “EYEBALLING” AND CALLING ME “NAMES” I HAD NEVER HEARD OF BEFORE——AMAZING HOW “FAST” YOU LEARN !!
ONLY FIVE YEARS (1959 - 1964) BUT LOVED IT EVERY DAY AND WENT ALL OVER THE WORLD—ONE THE GREATEST AND MOST PROUD THING I EVER DID IN MY LIFE - WAS ALMOST NEVER IN THE USA AND DID “SEE THE WORLD” MOST 2571 !! SERVED FOR 35 YEARS ON THE OKLAHOMA CITY POLICE AFTER DISCHARGE———-!!
LOVED IT !! SEMPER FI TO ALL YOU “JARHEADS” !!
