Marine Gear
Dear Sgt.Grit,
Greetings! On 21 Nov.2009 I placed an order with you consisting of a 8 piece BBQ set, & an apron set to be shipped to the Marine Security Guard Detachment, Wellington,New Zealand.
I am pleased to report that the Post Commander,[in my day,N.C.O.I.C.] informed me upon meeting him in late December,2009, both items arrived in good order on 23 December 2009.Interestingly,my birthday.
As you can see in the photos, both items were put on "duty" immediately upon reporting on post by the Post Commander,as seen in photo. The other gentleman holding/wearing the apron set,is yours truly, not as lean, not as mean, but once a Marine, always a Marine.I did a tour myself as a M.S.G. in Wellington,New Zealand, from Dec.1971 to June 1974.Don't ask how I got so lucky to spend my entire tour in New Zealand.I still wonder about that myself.
My thoughts now are, what can I send this year? I am sure I will find just the right item in your most interesting catalog. Many thanks for getting items to our boys in such a timely manner.
Sincerely & with respect,
Harold Ruckdeschel

Hi Sgt. Grit
I just wanted to tell you and show you what I did with your small ribbon bumper stickers I purched over 8 years ago. I made an personalized ribbon display and mounted it to my Harley win shield. I now see you have a lot more updated stickers. I may need to do an update myself. Thanks for the catolog. SSgt. Tom Colson Vietnam 68/69 Tanks DMZ

Service Ribbon Ski Helmet
I served one tour in Vietnam, first with the 81 mm mortar platoon, H&S Co., 2/3/3. When the 3rd Division left, I was transferred to the 60 mm mortar squad, Lima Co., 3/5/1. I’ve always been proud to say that I’m a Marine and a Vietnam veteran. The attached pictures are of my ski helmet, covered with small service ribbon decals, earned while in the Corps.

License plate art
Dear Sgt. Grit:
Holy cow! Last night I had the weirdest dream.
Chesty Puller was sitting on a leather sofa, as big as life, puffing on a Cuban cigar and reading a copy of your catalog.
All of a sudden, he leapt out of his chair and said, “%%&&*****!!@@######!!”
I asked him what was wrong, and he bellowed:
“Don’t you see!? Look on page 32. This license plate – item # LM02 – What the %%##****&&@@?!!! They don’t have it in black with a silver eagle, globe, and anchor!”
I stepped forward and he thrust the catalog into my trembling hands.
“SEE?! They only have it in red and gold. That is for pussies. If I want it, Sgt. Grit needs to have it!”
I promised him that I would bring this to your attention, and he slowly faded into the leather of the sofa and disappeared.
As you can well imagine, this was quite a traumatic experience, and one that I would not care to repeat. He made it quite clear that what he wants is a license plate with:
1. A black background, and
2. The eagle, globe, and anchor, and in silver.
Is there any chance you might be able to locate such an item in the near future? I fear that I’ll need to have an answer soon.
Thank you for your consideration –
Cheri Y.

Flag order
In January of this year, I placed an order with you for an American flag and a Marine Corps flag. After several weeks, I had not yet received said order. I called your ordering department to inform them of such. Without question or delay, the order was re-shipped, which I received within seven days.
Several months later, I received a package from the United States Postal Service Mail Recovery Center. Log and behold, it was the original order, including the invoice. Apparently, the original package was damaged and/or misplaced for a great while. At any, rate I'm returning the products, with invoice, as you've already fulfilled the order. Keep up the great work; it's always a pleasure doing business with Sgt Grit!

Sgt Grit Polo shirts on Iwo Jima
I wanted to share a photo of Sgt Grit Iwo Jima Polo shirts. We wore these on a recent visit to Iwo JIma. My father fought there for 18 days. He was assigned to Charlie company, 1st Battalion, 28th Regiment , 5th Division. We were there courtesy of Dick Portillo of the Portillo Restaurant Group. My father was in the book Flags of Our Fathers. His name is William Faulkner.
Thank you for the great polo shirts. We put them to good use.

Thank you! It is a joke for my grandson stationed in the middle of no where in Afghanistan. We have all sent so many boxes (I sent 17) since he left 2 months or so ago. Here is a photo of the two of us in sweatshirts we designed from patches of everywhere Graham has been. Most came from you.

Marine Corps Brat
I wanted to say thank you to the Sgt. Grit’s team for making me this bumper sticker. I’ve seen several items for wives, girlfriends, and fiancés, but never anything for those of us who are proud of being a Marine Corps brat. As I drive around town or on the freeway it has become common place for Marines, young and old, new guard and old guard, to wave, salute, or honk their horns. Those around me think I’m nuts to place this on my car, but I am truly thankful for the service and sacrifice the Marines have made so that I may enjoy my freedom at home.
Thank you to all who have served and are actively serving both at home and abroad.

Just to let you know that I received my latest order of the USMC see through decal and the Fallen Marine decals. Again, I thank you so much for the service that you provide..
As you can see by the attached photos of my vehicle, I have proudly attached them to it and I have received a lot of compliments from former Marines. I have had Marines come from behind me as I am driving down the streets and they honk their horn and let me know by giving me the sign of victory and a thumbs up! That really makes my day.
Sgt Grit, I am very proud to have served my God country with the U. S. Marines and like the saying goes " A Marine, always a Marine"

US Marines Cowboy Hat
Happy New Year to All at Sgt Grit!
And.....
I just wanted to drop you a note about that U.S Marine Corps Cowboy Hat available on your web site. I rarely leave the Ranch without wearing some sort of USMC attire from Sgt Grit. So on the occasion of my wife (Barbara) and I traveling to Las Vegas for our first trip ever to the National Finals Rodeo (NFR) a couple of weeks ago, I took along my Sgt Grit, U.S. Marine Corps Black Felt Cowboy Hat, with a couple of other traditional cowboy hats. Well, from the time we got to the Airport in Seattle to the time we checked into our hotel in Las Vegas, it became clear to me that the U.S. Marine Corps Cowboy hat was a lot more special then I thought.
Every where we went, people would stare and smile and nod their heads. Some would approach me and share their Marine Corps past or family memories, some would just say Semper Fi, others would just come up and Thank me for my service to our country and a few even asked to have their pictures taken with me. A real Marine Corps Cowboy photo op I guess. Unbelievable. On one particular occasion as we were walking through the New York - New York Casino, a young Marine came up to me, shook my hand, said Semper Fi and added you know what this means, thanked me for my service and moved quickly on, leaving in my hand a Once a Marine, Always a Marine Coin. I and my wife were very moved by that young man's gesture. I was amazed at the reaction of so many people to that Hat. After the first day I was a bit embarrassed by all of the attention but my wife would NOT let me wear any other cowboy hat. We were best friends since we were 13 and married for the past 34 years of which 25 were in the Corps so she is just as proud of that hat as I am. Well, being at a Rodeo it is tough not to wear a cowboy hat, so wear it I did for the 5 days we were in Las Vegas for the NFR. I have attached a picture of the two of us at the MGM Grand.
I can not tell you the joy that hat brought to myself, my wife and those that were drawn to it. It was a special time that we will not forget.

LCpl Dusty Wood
Hello everyone,
I just wanted to thank y'all for your help in my purchase. I had ordered the University of MCRD San Diego and University of Quantico but you had run out. So when I called to find out about my order is when I was told that they had been sold out and the lady there. I think she said her name was Cindy said she would send me a coupon for two tshirts of my choice to replace my order. I thought this was very nice of her to be able to help me in that way. When I mentioned I had two other items I was thinking about purchasing this month, she asked me what they were and I told her it was the new drinking mug. The one that keeps drinks cold and also the see through USMC logo that could be put on a vehicle. I've done that now that it has arrived and I'm attaching a couple of photos for y'all to see. I'll have to take one of me with my drink mug later and send it to y'all then.
My time in the Corps was spent between June 1968 and April 1975 in San Diego for boot. Quantico, VA for schooling as an armorer. Then to 29 Palms for a year until I was sent to Marine Barracks Rodman Canal Zone until 1970. Back to Quantico in 1971 to 1972 and finally back to California at MCAS El Toro until I was discharged honorably. I remember the day befor my discharge I was checking out of all the places on El Toro. When I got to sick bay I was sent to see the dentist. They examined my teeth and wanted me to come back the following week to have a tooth pulled. When I told them I was getting out the next day I was asked to be there at 0630 to have that tooth pulled. I said no problem. The day I was being discharged, I was standing in formation when this Major(I think) noticed my swollen jaw. He asked if I had been in a fight. I said, "No Sir! I just had a tooth pulled, Sir!. He started to laugh and when I started to laugh also, I found out I shouldn't have done that cause it hurt like you know what. He then handed me my discharge papers and moved on. I know I'll never forget my final day in the Corps because of that tooth pulling.
Anyway, I want to thank you again for your wonderful website and for your newsletters. I really enjoy reading them when they come in.
Semper Fi,

My name is Lt. Jewell and some time ago I wrote your company and requested any type of motto gear you could send to help deck out our platoon read board. You came through beyond our expectations and sent a whole box of goods.
Well we ended up not being able to put them up on the wall but we did have a BBQ and get the gear out to the other Marines. They were really excited and I thought I would send you some of the photos of that day.

Jack Slade's T-shirts
During a recent trip to a war zone in Burma to preform an asessment for a private contracting company Jack Slade took these photos. I was asked to forward them to you for your news letter.
Jack gave a shirt that he bought from your company to one of the KNLA rebel fighters. Jack was very impressed by this freedom fighter. Jack asked if he had ever used the handcuffs on his web gear and he said " yes, every time I man the .50 cal machine gun" Jack was a little confused and asked what he meant. The freedom fighter told Jack that he handcuffs himself to the .50 cal machine gun so that he is not temped to run away if his base camp is being over run by the DKBA or SPDC (bad guys). This so impressed Jack that he gave him this t-shirt. Jack bought this t-shirt from SGT grit in rememberance of his best friend and machine gunner Chris Reger, may he rest in peace. This shirt has been worn on many missions and even The Las Vegas marathon that he ran with 61lbs of gear in a "support out troops" run. Now it goes to a tough Freedom fighter in Burma. Jack hopes it gives him the strength it gave him. The other shirt Jack sent pics of says "Marines dont suffer from insanity we enjoy every minute of it". This was given to Jack by Chiris's sister Vicki. She bought it from your website. Please post these photos for Jack, he is in Burma and asked me to forward them to you. He reads your newsletter all the time. Semper fi!

PFC Marler
I just wanted to tell you about my Marine. PFC Cody Marler, Camp Geiger, NC...he was only 11 when 9-11 happened and after watching the planes crash into the towers on TV, he told me he was going to be a Marine. I thought he would grow out of it, but he didn't. He graduated high school a full year ahead of everyone else on Feb. 23, 2007. He turned 17 on April 7, 2007, which was a Sunday, but on Monday morning he was a Marine recruit and on May 7 he was at MCRD. (The longest 13 weeks of my life!) We went to his graduation on Aug. 3, 2007, Golf Co. Plt. 2154, and I have never been so proud in my life, not just proud of my son, but of every son standing there that day. From there Cody had 10 days leave and after a day at Sea World, we headed home. Being with Cody at the airport, out in public, was like being with a rock star! Men shook his hand, former servicemen shared stories of their time as a Marine or Soldier, women thanked and hugged him, and teenage girls posed for pictures with him and giggled like he was Brad Pit! My pick-up, (photo attached), is covered with bumper stickers from Sgt. Grit and never fails to get comments when I am in town. I have never heard anyone say a disparaging word about my son, the war, or the Marine Corps. Everyone has been so supportive. And I would just like to say thank you to every service man and woman, past and present. Semper Fi!

Thank You
Sgt. Grit,
I wanted to send you a few pictures of my son and his new wife. Sgt. Greg Markley arrived at MCAS, Beaufort in May of 2006 after a 2 year tour in Iwakuni, Japan. 9 days later he met Kathryn Drennan and they were married November 25, 2007 in Ohio. Katie wanted to have as much of the military involved in her wedding as she could. As you can see he wore his dress blues. She saw the cake topper that you carry and wanted it for her cake. The wedding was a great success and your staff helped to make this so. We also used the goblets. And there was a small snafu, which your staff corrected very quickly for me. I also used the Beanie Bear as a gift for the 2 cute little flower girls. They were a big hit. They so fell in love with Greg so now they have their own Greg.
I hope you enjoy the pictures. And again thank you from the bottom of my heart for your wonderful service.
Sincerely,
Linda Markley

Private Kabar, Chooch 0341
Herewith the latest picture of Private Kabar (her Sgt. Grit collar is hidden under the holly wreath). Private Kabar was
promoted to PFC last September. Unfortunately, she was
busted to private the following month for pissing behind the oil tank in the cellar - a direct contravention of standing battalion orders. However, I'm proud to report that there isn't a dog in the neighborhood who doesn't respond submissively to her low-pitched growl while she is on a walk with a clapped out old Marine Corporal (1961-1964, Seventh and Third Marines).

Great Catalog Picture
Sgt Grit,
On the way to this years Marine Corps Ball, this retired devil dog stopped to check his mail. How wonderful it was when he received his favorite catalog. Dress blues are very appropriate when receiving a SGT GRIT catalog. This photo was neither fixed or set up in any way. I thought it would be a great shot of my best friend, MSgt Joe Diaz, USMC, retired, checking his mailbox in his dress blues. It was a lucky shot. A great start to great ball.

My nephew is a Marine and currently stationed in San Diego. My dog Harley misses his cousin Tony very much since he left for the Marines eleven months ago. We participate in an annual fund raiser for the local humane society called The Mutt Strut which includes a costume contest. This year we felt it was very important to honor my nephew and all Marines so this year Harley dressed as a Marine. He may be small in stature but he definitely has a Marine attitude. guess! (Once a Marine, Always a Marine!) I just recently had my first child,
a girl, Martina and my parents first grandchild. And as a shower gift my dad
bought me both layette sets that you guys offer. About 2 weeks ago I finally
dressed her in her new Marine gear! My dad was so happy! So, I just thought
that if I sent you all some pictures of her and him, that maybe you might
put them in your catalog.
Thanks so much for your time!
OOH RAAH!!! SIMPER FI!!!
