Master Sgt. David McNamee and Baby son Oliver wearing the Marine dress Blue
Hey Sgt. Grit,
Several months ago I wrote to you and asked where I could get Dress Blues for my son’s new baby boy to wear to my daughters wedding.
You suggested I buy the Large Teddy Bear and take the Blues off and use them for the baby!
Well here is a photo of them at the Wedding.
My son is Master Sgt. David McNamee and son Oliver 23 months old.

Sgt Grit's Devil Pups
I was just looking at the [AmericanCourage #229] From Afghanistan and USMC Red Fridays? email newsletter and saw the adorable picture of the Sgt Grit's Devil Pups and had to go to your site to see more. :)
We have a Devil Pup of our own -- I have attached a picture of him :) This picture is from when he was 2 months old (which was about 13 months ago). Our Marine had been deployed to Afghanistan just a couple of weeks before this picture was taken with 2/8 and this is one of the pics of our precious baby boy that we sent to him for his 1st Father's Day!
Thanks,
Kyla

Marine Baby
Sgt Grit,
This is a picture of my son at 7 months old. My saw him doing "push ups" and said, "That is definitely your son! He's doing push ups just like Daddy!"
He's two years old now and loves toy guns, but the funny thing about that is that I haven't given him any guns or exposed him to any fire arms. Must be genetic and is being passed down.
P.S.
I am Former Sgt, having served with: 1stBn 9thMarines, 1stBn 4thMarines, 5thBn 14thMarines, & 2ndBn 23rdMarines. Served from Oct '85 to Dec '94. Semper Fi!

Memories, that will NEVER fade!
A Picture of our son with his daddy's cover on when he was 4 months old.
A very happy day in our life, his graduation from boot camp, Parris Island, The marriage proposal! Then a recent Photo of my husband, and our son. He will be going on his first deployment this August. My son and I will be totally lost without him home. I just wanted to share this picture, and just how cute a father and son can be. Especially with so much pride.

Scarlet and gold running through his veins.
Sgt Grit,
I have 5 sons, oldest is 12 and the youngest is 1yrs old. The picture is my middle son who is 6yrs old. Funny thing is, I didn't even have him pose for this picture. I just asked him to give me the 1000 yard stare. He grabbed my cover, correctly placed it two fingers from the bridge of his nose, popped in to the POA and looked right through the camera and I into my soul. Scarlet and gold running through his veins.

A Little Night Reading
We have been long time customers of Sgt. Grit. My daughter's father SSgt "Rooster" served from 1993-2002.
Our daughter, Riley loves to hear her Daddy tell stories and always points out the Eagle, Globe and Anchor on the various Marine posters, items, and on t-shirts at both of our houses. She always reads your newsletter along with me and loves the decorated motorcycles, bull dogs and Marines who she says "looks like Daddy."
I told her to pick out a book to read before bed. She ran in the other room and grabbed my Sgt. Grit catalog off my desk. I think she may be a bigger fan than some of your older members.
We get asked all the time where we find all the great Marine items and tshirts we have so I've started having to keep one of your catalogs handy. :)
Thanks for all the effort and as always Thank you to every Marine that honored the uniform.
Semper Fi.

"Tall Order"
My mini Marine
Hi, my name is Ashley and my husband is a former Marine. When I met and fell in love with him, he was an active-duty Marine serving at HQBN 1MARDIV, and the Marine Corps has always played a role, one way or another, in our lives. So, when we found out we were having our first child, I could not wait to find Marine Corps-themed clothes for the Devil Pup. So, I naturally turned to Sgt. Grit and found the cutest outfit. When I bought it, I purposely purchased it a little big so that she could spend more time in it since children have a tendency to grow at an alarming rate. This gave us the added bonus that everyone would be able to read it as we ran around. I gave it to my husband when we found out we were having a girl. She is now 13 months old, and it barely fits, so I guess it will soon be time for a larger version. It is one of her favorite outfits and she is constantly bringing it to me so that she can wear it. My husband recently turned 30, and he is always looking for good USMC gear. The problem is that I waited too late to order from your fine catalog, so I sent my mother by your brick-and-mortar store to pick up what I wanted to get him. Thank you so much for all you do! I thought I would send you pictures of our Leatherneck-in-training sporting her favorite outfit. Her father and I will be proud of her no matter what she decides to do in life, but we would feel extremely honored if she were to carry the colors forward as one of the few, the proud, the Marines.

My Devil Pup
Sgt Grit,
Hi I have loved your newsletters and website. Ever sinec I left the Corps almost a year ago I have wanted nothing more than to get back in (I am unable due to a medical seperation). I wanted to share a story with you. On June 2, I had a beautiful little girl. I was extremely nervous since I was a tomboy growing up. Since she was born my fears have been calmed. She loves to "play" rough and wrestle with her puppy. She is my little devil pup. Both of her parents are Marines and it shows its in her blood. Her favorite blanket is a Marine Corps Blanket my gramma gave me for my graduation. She sleeps with it every night. And recently she has started growling...I find it hilarious.
I just wanted to share my little Devil Pup with you and thank you for this comunity.

Jarhead Pup
Sgt Grit;
Just wanted to share a photo of my devil dog. His name is 'Jarhead', and he's earned the name. He's currently an E-3, but that's after spending at least 6 months as a boot and being busted at least three times. He comes by his monicer and behavior honestly - he's in a proud Marine Corps family: My father was a Marine before WWII (Pvt Harold Somers), my brother retired after 23 years (MSgt Mike Williams), I did my 4 years, my son served his 4 (LCpl Peter Williams - part with the first outbreak of hostilities in Iraq with the 2/10), and my daughter was a Corpsman (HM3 Mallory Williams). We bleed crimsom and gold. Love your newsletter and eagerly await every issue. Let's see some other "Devil-Pets" and/or mascots - would also like to see some Marine Corps motorcycles.
"Thanks" to my Brother and Sisters who went through all the sh*t I didn't have to. Special rememberance to those who paid the ultimate price.
As the old toast kinda' goes (and I always use whenever two or more Marines are gathered); To those Marines that are here with us, to those Marines who could not be with us, and to those Marines who are no longer amongst us. Semper Fi!"

Little Marine
Sgt. Grit,
Attached is a photo of my young great nephew A. J. Dressed in tropics and along with my wife dressed as a BAM ( ugh.... sorry Mindy, I guess I should have said Women's Reservist). I also dressed in my tropics at my former rank of GySgt., all went to a World War II re-enactment and encampment last fall. A. J.'s father Sgt. Joey Hoffer, has served 4 years in the Corps and has done 2 tours in Iraq.
Joey was honorably discharged in May of 2007. He landed a job as a prison guard at a state penitentiary and eventually wants to become a Police Officer in one of our local Police Departments near Reading, PA. Joey missed the Corps so much that he has enlisted in the MC Reserve and still holds his rank of Sgt. I hope you can post this photo and letter in your news letter for all of our Marine family to enjoy. A. J. looks like another of America's finest in the making! OOO-RAH! Needless to say A. J. was a big hit with all of the Marines in the Pacific encampment, and also with the lady spectators at the show. One thing though, I couldn't get him to salute right handed. I guess he's going to be a south paw.

Our lil "Marine"
Dear everyone at Sgt. Grit,
Normally I wouldn't send such personal pictures out like this, but I thought ya'll might get a kick out of our 1 yr old, Matthew. He wasn't feeling too good last night, and my husband was in the middle of making his famous "chili dogs and fries" for dinner when he realized our youngest was trying to make himself comfortable by the stove. As you can see in the pictures, he is dragging is Devil Dogs throw that we bought 2 yrs ago from the Sgt. Grit magazine. That's HIS blanket and it goes EVERYWHERE with him! (YES, everywhere....even my suburban and his daddy's truck). Anyway, thought we would share these pics with you of a determined lil man and his Devil Dogs "blanky".
Wishing you all well....Semper Fi,

New Grandson
This is a photo I took of our first grandson (sent with
permission). He was born October 9 to SSgt and Mrs Jeremy
Messerschmidt. I think his daddy shows a whole new meaning to
"the proud" He was 8.5 years of trying and two trips to Iraq
before he arrived. I am so proud of my son and his wife, and of
our new grandson. What these families give up and the amazing
strength they show is a blessing to all of us. The wives and
the families stand behind these brave men and support them 100%.

New Future Grunt / Best Use of Sgt Grit Gear
Sgt Grit:
I'm a Former Marine Sergeant who served from 1980-1986. I went to Parris Island in September of 1980 as a member of Platoon 2087. First stationed at Camp Lejeune as a Field Artilleryman in Alpha 1/10 and later HQ 1/10. From there, I ended up on Embassy Duty where I served as a Marine Security Guard at the American Embassies in both Reykjavik, Iceland and La Paz, Bolivia. Even though that era is considered "peacetime," I lost a lot of good friends in both Beirut and Grenada.
I eventually chose to leave active duty to pursue a career in law enforcement, which has been very fulfilling. However, the statement "Once a Marine, Always a Marine" is very much true and I consider myself a Marine first even before 'State Trooper.' The longer I am out, the more proud I am of the Corps, and the more I pray for our younger Brothers and Sisters who are putting their lives on the line over in the 'Sandbox.'
I'm enclosing two photos for your web site to show our continued support of the Few, the Proud. My daughter, Ava, is two years old and is featuring the USMC hoodie. The Future Grunt, Nicholas, was born on June 30th. He was 7 lbs, 14 oz. and 21 inches long! He's sporting a gung ho cover to keep his chrome dome warm.

Devil Pup Picture
Dear Sgt. Grit,
I was just browsing through your Marine Scuttlebutt pages and saw that you had a section for Devil Pups. I am a former Marine and actually about to go back in after being out for 3 years. Once a Marine, Always a Marine, right? Guess I didn't get enough the first time around....Anyhow this picture was taking when my daughter was about 2 years old one evening after the rifle range--she's 6 now and still tells me that she's gonna be a Marine one day. If you wouldn't mind posting her picture in that Devil Pup section that would so rock, she is such a ham for the camera.
Love Always,
Valerie

Sgt. Grit,
This is daughter, Miss Sabrina Kay Dalley. Her Daddy is Sgt. Christopher C. Dalley. She wanted to join the Marines, right now at age five. So, we took her down to the recruit office and she got a card, that she signed herself, saying that she is an honorary Marine. That is the best we could do...........for now.
