I couldn't be more proud of my kids, all Marines.

My oldest son served in Operation Iraqi Freedom Sept '07 to March '08. My middle son just picked up Cpl. My daughter graduated boot camp Sept '09. Their father and step mother were a big influence in their decision to join the Corps, they also were Marines.
I never miss an opportunity to show off my kids...because I AM THE PROUDEST MARINE MOM!!

Here is a story from a Mom of a deployed Marine. We have lived in Houston for 20 years and never been to a professional football game. My husband was given a couple of tickets to the Texans football game and we were very excited.

We sat thru the first quarter then the second quarter and I just could not wait to refill my Dr. Pepper. As I stood up and started to walk away, there they were, all dressed up and marching on the field. The announcer proudly announced “THE MARINE CORP SILENT DRILL TEAM FROM WASHINGTON DC.” After the long applause, the stadium was extremely quiet. The only sound you could hear was the movements of the team. I stopped and almost cried to see these men on the field. I thought about my son so far away and how these men have given up their families to be here completing their missions.

After the performance, I was all talk. I must have asked my husband ten times “did you see that?” and “wasn’t that the best performance ever?” I just could not watch the game any longer. I so wanted to meet these men to say thank you for the best performance that I have ever seen. My husband then asked an employee if it was possible to see the Marines that performed at half time. My husband was given the information and off we went. I just knew that I would not be able to meet them and tell them thank you. I was worried that I would never get this opportunity.

I located the Marines sitting in the stands. I walked up to one of them and asked if he would mind taking a photo with me. To my surprise he said yes and asked if he could bring a couple of his guys with him. OH MY!!! I was so happy! I told them that my son was deployed and found out that they too were far from home. My husband took three photos of me with the Marines and to this day, I have not stopped talking about my experience. I got three of the best hugs a mom could ask for. The only hug that could have been better would have been from my son. I felt so relived and one step closer to my deployed son. It was truly a wonderful experience for me and my husband to hear them say my son was going to be okay.

Please tell your son for me that without this experience, I would sit and worry another day about my son so far away. Without these Marines, I would not have had this experience that will last a lifetime. These Marines not only gave me peace, a loving hug and reassurance that my son is in good hands, but their honor courage and commitment gave me the courage to relax and sleep a little better.

Drawings and Paintings

Just wanted to share my paintings with your site. I visit here alot.. Our son, LCpl Andru is on his second deployment in Iraq. I started my drawings and paintings to show our pride in our son, the Corps and America. My husband is also a veteran of the Corps. Hope you enjoy these as much as we are. Taking Care of Our Marines

Included are pictures I took of the display we put up in a local mall for the holidays. The tree is a giving tree where you take a star and put your name and address on it with a gift for our care packages we are sending out to the troops overseas. We purchased the flags from your web store. I am a PROUD MARINE MOM and have made lots of purchases through your catalog. My son is a Sgt. stationed at 29 Palms, CA

I have enjoyed reading your newsletter and look forward to each new one that comes out. I am also the secretary of Blue Star Mothers of America MN Chapter #1. mnbluestarmothers.org We are busy with sending cards and packages out to the troops. And as long as we can keep getting donations we will keep sending them. It is a coping mechanism for us back home here. We just received an email from a Sgt. in a hospital in Baghdad who saw our ad for names of service men and women to send packages to. He asked us if we could send some to the names he enclosed as they are single and don't receive much mail.

May God keep them safe and send them home soon. Respectfully submitted

A Marine Mom's Poetry

The talk in the service is all kind of new
You march past the flag; they call it "Review"
You stand in a "chow line"
While we site and dine
You polish your boots, call it "spit shine"
When you have to go potty
You use the "head"
You jump into your "sack"
We call it a bed
I'd wake you for school
You wake now for "muster"
At that early hour
It sure is a buster
They gave you a number
In place of a name
But you'll always be "Gary"
To me just the same
You learn all the jargon
And don't ever balk
But remember it's Mom
Who taught you to talk

Another Marine Mom Poem

August is near
But September's the month
That we will hold dear
When you grow older
Time usually moves fast
But this summer
Seems to last

Babes seem to grow
In the bat of an eye
So pardon me son
If I sometimes cry

Don't worry about it
For they're tears of joy
A man has evolved
From our beautiful boy

Don't mind if I treat you the same
Please don't scorn
For to me
You will always be our first born

It's hard for a Mother
To realize you've grown
They want you forever
To be all their own

But honestly Gary
I'm willing to share
With God and Our Country
And the Marine Corps they care

Don't ever forget though

For I am the one
Who wished it for you.

It's been over a year
Since I wrote that poem
We're sitting here waiting
For you to come home

Your new mission in life

The only hard part is
We can't be where you are

So keep up the good work
We know it's not fun
But we're happy to say
"That Marine Is Our Son"
