My Tattoos

Here are some pix of my tattoos. The one on my upper arm I got while attending SOI in May of 1990 at Camp Geiger, done at Odyssey Tattoo in Jacksonville NC (Top USMC Tattoo). The Skull on my back is the CCI Logo from when I was a Close Combat Instructor from 1994 to 1996 with SSgt William Moore, at DivSchools and AITC Camp Geiger. Got it the day I got out January 15th 1996.

Marine Pride Tattoo

It took me a long time to get the design right, but finally when my younger brother joined the Marines one of his bootcamp buddies drew it out for me. I made a couple changes but for the most part it stayed the same as he drew it. I dont know his name but if he sees it hell know he drew it. THANKS I went to a bunch of tattoo shops and they couldnt get it right. It was done at Inklanation Tattoo Shop in El Paso TX.

Emblem Tattoo

Hi Sergeant Grit! My name is Paul Magor. I am a former 8th & I/Camp David Marine Corps Sergeant. The first Marine tattoo I got in 1979 was not the one I had picked out but still wear it with Marine Corps pride. I just got this one almost 27 years later, on 071506. I had this piece done by Dano, at Lucky 13 in Denver, Colorado. He did an awsome job! Once a Marine, Always a Marine.

USMC Tattoo

I got this tattoo to show all who saw it, that I was apart of the best. But didn’t want the same tattoos as everyone else so I had one of my boys that was in 1/12 A battery draw it up for me. Thanks Gonzales

Eagle and Cannons Tattoo

Few Thoughts

Dear Sarge,

Just finished your July 6th letter, and have a couple of comments...First about the guy who wants to wear an EGA to honor his son...Go for it...My mother wore one that my brother gave her before he left for the islands...Oh yeah she was the mother of 2 thats two marines...My brother was in WW2 and then when i turned 17 i joined...I am a former Woman Marine ...I also gave her an EGA... Now speaking of children,,, mine would like to know why you dont have bumper stickers that read" MY Mom Was a Marine"...My children are very proud of the fact that i was in the corp...

This past summer i went and got my first Marine Tat...where you might ask...where else right over my heart...by the way I'm 66yrs old and my kids tell everyone my mom got a USMC tat.

Keep up the good work...SEMPER FI and God bless
Diane Hergenroder

Father's and Sons' Tattoos

I saw father and son Marine Corps emblem tattoo on these pages a few months ago when my sons were in Boot Camp in San Diego and I got the idea to get something similar. Three weeks ago I told my sons I was going to get this tattoo but I don’t think they believed me as I was in the Corps for 22 years and never got one.

When my Leatherneck sons came home for July 4th weekend the first thing they wanted to see was my tattoo! The next day they looked at it again and asked me how it felt. They decided they too, would 'get some ink'.

I took them to the same tattoo parlor that did mine, Inksmith & Rogers in Orange Park, Florida. They opted to go without color. My son Louie said "Dad, I don't rate color yet, I'm not an NCO." I laughed, 'cause in my eyes they rate EVERYTHING!

We took this photo in our back yard on July 4th, 2006.

Own EGA Tattoo Design

Hello, My name is Edgar Ortega. I served with the 3rd Assault Amphibious Battalion, 1st MARDIV. from 1993 to 1998. I just recently finished working on this EGA design and i got it tattooed. I check your site every now and then to see if any of my buddies have posted their tats. I would appreciate if my tat was posted on your site.

Tribal Eagle Globe and Anchor

I've been in almost 8 years and I knew I wanted to get an Oorah tattoo but I didn't want to get the same one everyone gets. I designed my own and this is what I came up with. Just got it in April 2006. The rope goes almost all the way around. It stopped about 1/2 inch short under my arm and the artist frayed the edges. I've got another tattoo I'm thinking about. Tattoo on the left side of the chest. "The realistic heart is exposed and the EGA is tattooed on the heart.

I Stay Lovin' My Marine!!!!

Sgt. Grit,
I am so proud to be one of the few chicks that can handle being the wife of a Marine. I have been a proud wife since November 16, 2005. My Husband is stationed at New River in Jacksonville N.C.. I got my tattoo on my right arm right before he was deployed to Djibouti, Africa in Feb. I have his name (Charles) in the dog tags. The tattoo design was his idea and I loved him enough to get it. Out of all of the things in the world to be, being the wife of a Marine is by far the best and most challenging. No matter where my husband is now and may be deployed to in the future, I will forever stay lovin' him just as hard as I can. Love You Baby.

In Memory of My Brother

My Brother, Lance Cpl Nicholas Anderson was deployed in January 2006 to Afghanistan. March 13, 2006 he was killed when his humvee overturned with him up in the gunner's seat. He died from the injuries sustained in that accident. When he was home in December for his leave before deployment, we went and had tattoo's done together and they were chinese symbols that stand for older sister, younger brother. So when we received this news of my Brother's passing, I went down and added to my tattoo, I had a set of dog tags added and had In Memory, My Brother put on the dog tags. My Brother and I were very close to each other so it means alot to me that we did the first tattoos together and now I have that forever and my new one makes me feel close to him again.

Lance Cpl Nicholas Anderson was based out of Kanoehe Bay Hawaii with the 1/3 Bravo Company. He joined the military in January 2005. completed boot camp on April 15, 2005.

EGA and Marine Tattoo

I enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1968, two days out of high school. I discharge in 76. I have always wanted an EGA.. I wanted it to be unique yet traditional. It has taken 38 year but I found the EGA that I wanted. See attached.

MY tattoo was done at Pins and Needles, in Tracy, CA. by the owner JOHN.

USMC Tattoo

This is a picture of my husaband's USMC tatoo. He got this tatoo after he got his active duty status. He will be stationed in Camp Lejeune, NC. He is leaving for Iraq in Aug./Sept. 2006.

USMC Eagle Tattoo

I served from 1983 - 1989 and always thought about getting a tattoo but was not sure of what USMC design, or if I would end up regretting it over time. It's been 17 years since I got out, and I still want one, so I got this in January of 2006.

Semper Fidelis Tattoo

Our Flag represents our country, and Freedom. The Flag is old, tattered, torn, and faded like the scars from our country. But our Flag still waves and is replenished by the birth of new veterans.

Bulldog Tattoo

Me and my buddy from back home both got the bulldog tat the night we graduated from boot camp. I got the EG&A when I got off of active duty (for training, reservist) in March of 2004.

To all my fellow Marines out there--Semper Fidelis and be careful where ever you are.

USMC Tattoos

I got this tat in honor of my buddy I served with. He had got the tattoo first and mentioned I should get the same one also since he was leaving for his 1st tour in Iraq… I told him when he comes home alive from Iraq, then I’ll get it. He returned in Sept. 06… the next week I was sitting in the chair for this 3½ hour work of art. The other tat (U.S.M.C. on my forearm) was my 1st oohrah tattoo

Marine Corps Tattoos

Sgt. Grit
I had the honor of serving in our Corps from 1963 ~ 1968. It took me 45 years from then to find "my" Marine tattoos. I hope everyone enjoys them as much as I do. And remember the old saying about "Our Emblem and how if something stood still, we would slap one on it? Well...the last picture is of my girl's left calf..I guess she wasn't moving fast enough.
