A Deeper Sadness
By: Jessica Winchester
SI sit by myself thinking how long,
How long he will be gone this time,
Even though I know he is good at what he does, You can’t help but worry.
So I sit quietly and think,
Will he be okay?
Will he stay safe?
You can’t help but wonder.
So today is the day,
He’s leaving once more,
The sad expression on my face says all,
He’s off to war.
Hot tears stream down my face,
He packs his bag and is on his way,
Our family is struck with a sadness like no other,
We kiss him goodbye, But just for now.
