Happy 100th Birthday, Marine! Semper Fidelis.
Sgt. Maj. (Ret.) John Thomas Collier celebrated his 100th birthday today. Collier enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1940 and attended Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island. During World War II, Collier served at the Battle of Guadalcanal and Cape Gloucester. Following the war Collier returned to Parris Island as a drill instructor in 1945. In 1950, Collier deployed with 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment and fought at the Chosin Reservoir. Today he lives just across the river in Beaufort, SC, steps from where his Marine Corps’ career started.
