Kaneohe Bay 1960-62

I was stationed at Kaneohe Bay Hawaii from March 1960 to March 1962 and while there myself and two buddies had a apartment in Waikiki and spent a lot of off time there. I also had a girlfriend who lived in the same apartment building with her four girlfriends and we all spent a lot of time on the beach.

I forgot to mention I was a Fire team Leader in 1st Platoon, 1st Squad 2nd Fire team and one day back at the barrack we had a junk on the bunk inspection before we could go on liberty. Everything went fine until after the inspection. that is when our Platoon Lt came up to me and took me aside, he went on to explain that he was a Lt in the Marine Corps, had a sport car, made more money, and considered himself some what good looking but every weekend when he would come into Waikiki  and walk down the beach he would see me sitting with at least 5 good looking young women and wanted to know how I did it. So I said Sir come into town with me some weekend and I would show him how I did it. He then informed me that he could not do that. So that is when I said then Sir I cant help you. This is a true story so help me God

Here is a message I sent to Sgt Grit when asked why I unsubscribed:

I found the new format very cumbersome to read whereas the old one was enjoyable this one is irritating.

Who ever is the new owner of Sgt Grit they should at least have the courtesy to introduce themselves. Grit often included a brief bio of his service. We know nothing of the new owner, we don’t even know if they are Marines. I can find much of the same things offered on Grit on E-Bay at lower prices but have chosen to deal with him because I felt a kinship with him. Not so with whom ever took over.

If you want me as a customer in the future you need to remedy the above.

Rich, I was there at he same time,Air Wing & crossed trained to the Grunts. Gunny did not like me living off base. I lived at the Islander Hotel Waikiki. No brag, at that time we had 5 coeds around us at any time we was in town.

HEY RICH….when the Lt asked you how you do it, you should have just “licked your ear”…..nuff said!!!
