Marine Issued Rain Hat - Anyone Have Pictures with this Rain Hat?

Here is a picture of me wearing a Marine issue rain hat when I was on a Med Cruise with India 3/2 in 1959. I believe we were on Sardinia.

sir willard, you are aware of the Navy/Marine Corps rule of 3rd Purple Heart and you left the country right? I would have been forced to leave. I stayed!!!

Not at all. Losers usually react with that line.
You’re right, life is short McCarron. So you lay on your fat ass while the rest of us reach for the brass ring and do the right thing. You post your MOS’s, but you’re not bragging?? You and Paul really do resent what many of us have done, so your only defense is we’re ass kissers, we’re bragging, get over it. Get over what? You could’ve done the same thing. So why didn’t YOU? Sorry about the Purple Heart thing Paul. My outfit never said I wouldn’t be allowed back if I took another hit.
Rant on, do you no good. I’m 10-7 so you two may as well go 10-3.
And, pog mo thoin!!!

Paul 0311 - April 12, 2020

To “sir willard ” I think you just helped Nick make his point!! Good job! P.S. The instructors I remember wore pith helmets. I am going to step out of character and just say that I turned down my 3rd and 4th Purple Hearts to stay with my unit. You really DO need to get over yourself and, I’m sure I’m not alone when I say it. STOP BRAGGING!!! Paul 0311

HI WILLARD DID I HURT YOUR FEELINGS/ IF YES GOOD.
ALONG WITH ALL YOUR OTHER ACCOMPLISMENTS LISTED IN YOUR RESPONSE YOU FORGOT “HEAD ASS KISSER TO MAD MIKE.”
WILLARD LIFE IS SHORT SO GET OVER IT.
SEMPER FI. MARINE.
YOUR FRIENDLY IRISHMAN. CPL. MC CARRON.

I was a 1341 eng eqp mech assigned to VMFA 115 @ DaNang oct 65 – oct 66. The irishman is blunt but correct. The tow tractors under my care were half in Japan and half with me. I had to deadline one before I found the problem. Mine was the ONLY tow tractor( big ugly hough out of Illinois) on the flightline. All the units used them and followed my instructions. It works well. My regret was not getting the name of the Gunny next door and the name of the Sgt. that replaced me. He arrived the day I left with my seabag. The conversation went something like ‘that’s my bunk and the books and the clothes are now yours. I spent my 24the and 25 birthday at DaNang. Semper Fi/nunc et semper.

Better to be the best part of a man than the other. LOL. You might want to look up “hypocrite”, because you’re not even close.
Get over what?? 0311, 8651, 8511, NCOIC,…., made the E-6 list in 4 off the Drill Field (P.I. 3rdBn, in ’72), 8 combat decorations with 2 purple hearts, and like a lot of Marines saw more action than just Vietnam. I’ll not apologize for any of it, especially Recon and Drill Instructor with multiple Meritorious Commendations. Let’s see, the MOS 8531 is Pvt. E-2 to Sgt. E-5 (only) billet as a marksmanship instructor-no TIG required, and some of you, respectfully not all, THOUGHT you were one of us cause you wore the Campaign Cover. You weren’t and never will be!!!!!

Bill 0331 - April 12, 2020

Hey Nick . good response! The “2 Other Contributors ” that Willard is referring to, I don’t know if anyone has noticed but, the Wanabes and posers have left The Grit. Mission Accomplished.

Nick 0311/8531 - April 12, 2020

You are just as much a dick as he is Willard your arrogance shines through every time you post what a hypocrite! get off that high horse and get over yourself! Nick 0311/8531

STILL NO WAY TO TALK TO A BROTHER MARINE MC CARRON! YOU’RE JUST MEAN-SPIRITED AND YOU’VE GOT MORE MOUTH THAN ASS ON THE INTERNET SLICK. YOU’RE A BAD WRAP FOR OUR COURAGEOUS, DEDICATED “WINGERS”. RANT ALL YOU WANT NOW; ALONG WITH 2 OTHER “CONTRIBUTORS” TO SGT. GRIT, THE SECOND I SEE YOUR HANDLE I’LL BLOW BY IT WITHOUT A READ.

YOU’RE A BETTER MAN THAN I, JIM HAIGHT. SEMPER FI!!!

Jim Haight - April 12, 2020

Brendan, thanks for the ass kicker. Your right, and there is no disrespect intended for you or any other Marine. I can see your point and should have thought it out . Thank you and all who did many many hours to keep those life saving birds flying, under tough conditions. I leave it at that. Thanks
