Naming a US Warship for Iwo Jima Flag Raising Photographer Joe Rosenthal

The Marine Corps Combat Correspondents Association is petitioning the Secretary of the Navy to name a US Warship after legendary AP photographer Joe Rosenthal, who took the iconic picture of the Iwo Jima flag raising. The image was also used as part of the Seventh War Bond Drive in 1945 to raise more than $26 billion to support the war effort.
