BEN A MARINE
provided by Ann Hixson
They took a boy and made a man, molded him brave and strong.
They took his adolescent dreams and taught him to follow along.
The honor in his serving, being a United States Marine.
Did they prepare his heart to bear these things he’s never seen?
Fighting for a country with no freedom, where religion breeds unrest.
Longing for his homeland, where his weary soul could rest.
What have we stolen from this boy, so others can live in peace?
Is his young heart worth the loss? Will the fighting ever cease?
The exhilaration and the glory as his flag flies high.
We pray this gives him inner peace, he says marines don’t cry.
They took a boy and made a man, with confidence and grace.
So we could live in feedom, with our world a better place.
