Stolen Valor

By: Nick0311/8531

A recent news story regarding a Fake Army Nurse( Vietnam and Iraq Wars) that stole a seat on an Honor Flight to Washington D.C. gave some one the idea to start a Dishonor Flight but there are certain criteria :
1) Must possess a forged or blurred ,in the proper spaces, DD-214 or claim that your records were destroyed in the 1973 fire at the NPRC. Note: a certified copy will not be accepted .
2)Must wear a leather vest with as many pins and,or patches that you can fit.
3)If you are wearing a ribbon stack or any medals they must be arranged out of order and any combat medals can not be DOD engraved.
4) Must have the proper Combat Veterans hat with the war of choice, even if you were to young or old at the time of conflict.
5) Must be able to tell at least one war story that can not be verified or that you were the lone survivor. Better if you were captured and escaped
6) If you require a service animal you must have the proper fake papers to be seated in first class
You can contact Juan A Bee at the dishonor flight HQ.

That is so true. I served 1966-1996 Viet Nam only once Mar67 to Apr 68 yes there for the TET. I was Motor T. Ret as Sgt Maj (10 yr and 9 mo TIG. I go to the V.A. Hosp and I am the only one there that was not door gunner, grunt, recon, or sniper, Seal, Ranger and the list go on. Fire fights that lasted only 10 min in 1967 now last all night. LMFAO.

I often ask when seeing someone out in public wearing a Viet Nam veteran (especially Marine) identifier what their MOS was. Almost always the reply was door gunner, grunt, recon, or sniper. Makes me wonder what happened to all the admin, supply, and motor T guys.

Like many of you, I will never understand why people feel that they have to embellish or glorify their participation in any situation, location or service, even when just being there was heroic enough. After I retired from the Corps, I worked for the VA for about five and half years. My first job was as a new patient intake interviewer. Most WWII and Korean War vets were very humble and most always honest about their service. But for some reason the Vietnam vets were the most fictitious and outlandish, especially the Army and Air Farce. Very few had any type of discharge papers or any proof of service. I was totally amazed by how many were attached to clandestine units in Laos, Cambodia and Thailand, always involved in super-secret activity for which they still couldn’t speak or tell about. Either that, or a scout-sniper with hundreds of kills. A Hospital Inquiry of the eligibility system would usually indicate that they were just another dog-face, fly-boy or jar-head, some never serving outside of the continental United States. But I suppose that wannabes have always, and will always be with us. Maybe its just human nature. Semper Fi!!

I love the criteria for the dishonor flight. But are you guys serious, some lady of 84 years was able to get on a flight. Hey give the old lady some props, she is not just sitting around to die. Of course I totally don’t understand why people do this but jeez 84 years old and playing real life charades. I think they all should have to be thrown in combat just for the hell of it. I doubt very many come home but that would be a righteous penalty.

I was in Nam 1966/1967. I never saw a “round eye” of the female gender my entire tour until my last day in-country. That was when I went to the big PX at Da Nang and saw a few “doughnut dolly’s” working there ….. Bob 1381

I assume you are referring to the 84 year old Maggie, retired Ltcol that received the Silver Star for combat in Vietnam? No woman received the Silver Star in the time between WW2 and Iraq/Afghan wars. Also read this is not her first rodeo there are claims that this was her 4th flight. That criteria for the dishonor flight is great!! I know guys that wear that kind of stuff almost everyday Bill 0331
