This is to GM Walsh. Were you really a Marine? I never heard of a Marine going to see St. Peter. Real Marines just go to HELL and regroup!!!!

Paul 0311 - April 8, 2020

The only part I remember that could be reversed was the gas piston. I remember that from ITR Paul 0311

Harry 1371 - April 8, 2020

You are right Nick. I was not a gunner but, I was around them enough to know that the rod went in one way and one way only. However, with any weapon they do where out. Harry 1371

Nick 0311/8531 - April 8, 2020

It is IMPOSSIBLE to put the rod in backwards!! Did you ever see one?

Bill 0331 - April 8, 2020

Hi Jim . The gas system was also the biggest issue I had, It had to be complete field stripped and cleaned. Hard to do in a fight. Most times just changing out the barrel would get us through. Usually got permission for a test fire after field strip depending where we were. Bill 0331

GySgt. Gerard C. FLORENTINE - April 8, 2020

Doesn’t everyone? What’s the Problem?

Jim Kelly - April 8, 2020

M60 malfunction after firing one round was not the operating rod put in backwards, it was the gas piston.

richard Pearson - April 8, 2020

My question is, “when did this term “Ooh Rah!” come about, I served from 69-73, and never heard this used ?

PFC Richard Yamada - April 8, 2020

PFC Richard Yamada,
I was drafted into the Corps 18 June 1969. Graduated Honor Man in Boot Camp. Disabled 7 months 23 days into my calling as a Marine but still doing my Marine Corps drills 50 years going strong.

Gerard M Walsh - April 8, 2020

I was on active duty from 1970 to 1990. I have been on the retired list since 2000. Your list still describes me pretty well. I am 68 years old and I do not know when I will be called to report to St. Peter. I do know that when I report it will be at attention and as a Marine. Semper Fidelis
