Flag durability
Bjorn Olson - Wednesday, January 27, 2016
Hi Marines. And others. I got my flag from Sgt Grit a year ago. This year it's fading and framing. I was shocked at first. I've also never had a flag until last year. I noticed other comments here too. After my own research Ive discovered that even very expensive nylon flags aren't meant to last years. In fact, many studies suggest that outdoor flags lasting 6-10 months is good. Especially if flown 24/7. One study even suggests every 90 days be ready to replace. http://www.libertyflags.com/how-long-should-a-flag-last/So this comment is to share my own education with you all. It was a learning moment for me. I just didn't know until now that 10 months (my case) was acceptable, & not indicative of a low quality product from Sgt Grit. SEMPER FI!
Nice Flag, Doesn't Last

This is a beautiful flag but it doesn't last long. It deteriorates very fast.**Most of the flags will last 10-12 months and dependent upon the weather in which the flag is flown-Sgt Grit
Wonderful product, wish they would last longer

I purchased this flag two years ago and I had to take it down last week because it came apart at the end seam and a grommet pulled out. The American fleg that I purchased at the same time is still looking good. Denny Krause bought this for me and brought it to the MEGA reunion in Arlington. Have you improved the quality of this flag? I would like to know before I buy another one. JohnI will tell Denny to buy you a new one.... They are the same flags.. and typically last around 6-10 months. Yours held up well.--Grit
Shorter life than my US flag :(

I received this flag as a Christmas gift in 2012. I took it down for the last time yesterday (03/19/2014) because there's too much damage and I just couldn't let it stay alof anymore. I flew it just below my US flag, 24/7 (it's lit at night), taking them down only when high wind storms blew through. Wind killed it at the point where it was folded for packing just in from the fly end hem - as well as the hem itself. Other folded locations were showing signs of weakness. It has held up about the same as less expensive slik screened versions I've had.It is a nice looking flag, but to be honest, when I got it, I was disappointed the EGA's globe was dark (but NEVER complained to the Mrs.!). I think I will try to trim the damage off, narrow the halyard end match, hem it up and use it as a banner in my shop. For what it's worth, my US flag that was put up at the same time and cost about the same is still looking fine.We will be contacting you about this--Sgt Grit 3.27.2014
Doesn't hold up

Beautiful, but after less than a year in use (replacing a lesser one), the downwind hem is torn, separating from the seam. It will be in tatters soon.We will be in touch to rectify this...--Sgt Grit
Superb!

Just received this flag today and was very impressed. This is a high quality product that exceeded my expectations. Very heavy duty construction and even came with very nice brass swivel clips. You cannot go wrong if you are looking for a top notch Marine Flag!
Awesome

This is the 5th flag I have bought since my son left for bootcamp in 2011 and I just replace it with the same flag every time! We have lots of wind in Nebraska and I will not stop flying it! Thank you for this quality flag!
Perfect - as expected

Just received the flag today (03-AUG-12) and it is everything the other reviewers said it is. It looks even better than it looks in the picture. If you want a flag this is the one to get.
Beautiful Flag

Saw this flag displayed at the front door of a friend's house. I wasstruck immediately by the beauty. Much better than my silk screen flag. Got the Sgt. Grit web site from my friend. I will order one at the end of this month.
