I thought this cartoon might appeal to your readers smiley face. I am a cartoonist living in Maine who went through USMC OCS in 1980. My website www.thundersausages.com will be up in July with lots of cartoons. Your catalog is great – keep up the good work and thanks!

Speaking of cartoons………I enjoyed the picture on the cover of the catalog (Volume 113 – Summer 2019) which showed two Marines playing pool on a pool table covered with a heavy duty table cover and balls racked up on top of the cover. I’m hiding that one from my Navy buddies at the VFW.

What platoon were you in on OCS? I was the Plt Sgt for C4. SSgt Jones then. Had Capt Davis as Plt Commander ( he was killed in Lebanon bombing).

Great cartoon, Alex! Did you go through the Boston OSO when you were commissioned? As a Gunny I was on the OSO team out of Hartford CT from Aug ’78 thru Nov ’81. I really enjoyed the time I spent in New England, particularly being a history buff. Roaming through the old cemeteries was one of my favorite past times. In ’79 the family and I went up to spend the 4th of July weekend at Sebago Lake with some of my wife’s extended family who had a cabin there. We arrived late in the evening and I remember the moon shimmering over the lake and the loons calling. I was up early the next morning to take a refreshing dip in the lake. I dove in and immediately retreated to the shore. I don’t think that I have ever felt water that cold in the middle of summer. I’m a farm boy from Kansas who is used to swimming in nice, warm farm ponds. What a shock, but the fishing was great. Semper Fi!!!
