What a Soldier Might Think on Christmas

A Soldier’s Christmas Night

As I look across the desert sky
and gaze up at the stars…
I wonder how the shepherds felt…
When they saw that King of ours!

It truly was a moment…
That changed the course of time…
And through His presence here on earth…
His message was divine.

But mankind through the years…
Ignored what Jesus said…
And struck out at his brother
in selfishness instead!

The nighttime air is chilling…
And can take your breath away…
But for a man who is at war
it gives you time to pray.

Although it may be Christmas
and a time for peace and cheer…
For a soldier in “Harm’s Way”
it’s a time of “hope and fear”.

You think about your loved ones…
And the life you’ve left behind…
But your country’s lasting freedom
is the focus of your mind.

And as you watch a falling star
burnout before your eyes…
You think again about the birth…
Of the one who made the skies!
