Wounded Heroes

Wounded Heroes

We see the wounded heroes,
pain and sadness in their eyes.
They served their country well
as they paid so high a price.

Their wounds may not be seen
–they’re not visible to the eye.
Their hurts go way down deep,
where they’ve tucked them, deep inside.

The physical proof of injury
may be there for you to see.
Only God knows how they suffer
-it’s not real clear to you and me.

Dear God, help their hurting.
You’re the only One Who can.
Comfort these, our heroes,
whatever rank, woman or man.

Bring healing to our heroes, Lord,
be it physical or otherwise.
Let them know they all stand tall
and always will in our eyes.
